How to Attract Cardinals Cardinals are one of the most desired birds in North America because of their large range, bright red color, and year round presence. Often they will be the first bird you see in the morning at your feeder, and the last visitors you see at night. One of the biggest ways of attracting cardinals is having the right type of seed. The large bills of cardinals allow them to easily crack open safflower and sunflower seeds.
